When is the last time that you had a tea party? Who says that you have to be a little girl to enjoy a cup of tea & some cookies? Invite a girlfriend over, serve cookies on pretty plates, and enjoy a steaming cup of tea. This pretty tea cozy will help keep your tea nice & warm while you enjoy your afternoon.

I used quilted cotton for this tea cozy, and accented with a few strips of patterned fabric. This is a great way to use up scraps...or you can purchase as little as 1 inch of fabric at most fabric stores. I’ll admit…I even bought a cute new teapot…but that step is optional!

Instructions (Print version)

1. Measure your teapot (height & width) so that you will know how big to make your cozy. My teapot measured approximately 12” wide (handle to spout), and approximately 7” tall (tip – the 12-in-1 Multi Sewing Tool has a handy measuring tape attached)
2. Fold your quilted cotton in half, and cut a half circle (using the fold as your flat edge). I used a 13” charger plate as my template, and trimmed around it using a Comfort Grip Rotary Cutter.

3.   Cut along the fold using Softgrip No 8 Bent Scissors, so that you have two
  half circle pieces.
3. Cut two strips of fabric approximately 4.5” wide, and the length of the    straight edge of your quilted piece.
4. Fold over both sides of each strip, pin, and iron flat.
5. Fold a small strip of fabric to form a “tab” for the top of your cozy. Iron flat.

6. Fold each strip over the edge of your quilted piece. Stitch along edge.

7. Pin half circles together, inserting the “tab” into the top of the curve.
8. Stitch around curve of quilted half-circle.
9. Turn right-side out.
10.  Trim an additional strip of patterned fabric using Fiskars Pinking Shears. Stitch along length, using a wide stitch. Pull to gather slightly. Hand stitch onto the bottom edge of cozy.
11.  To add a bit of decoration, use 2 sizes of Fiskars Round n’ Round squeeze punches to create paper templates. Pin to fabric scraps, and cut out using Fiskars Pinking Shears.

12.  Stitch fabric circles to front of cozy, adding a button to the center.
Enjoy your tea party!
