When I hear the words tea party invitation, I think pastel colors, script fonts, and most likely, an image of a tea pot. I wanted to do something a little different with my tea party invitation, to convey a relaxed feeling where you know it's perfectly OK to show up wearing your favorite jeans and t-shirt, planning to forgo the perfectly set table and instead lounge lazily on the couch with your legs folded under you.
So I opted to use semi-transparent layering, earth tones, contrasting patterns, and a little bit of distressing.

Instructions (Print version)

1. Using the Fiskars Desktop Rotary Trimmer, cut a 11 1/2" x 4" strip of kraft colored cardstock.
2. Trim the corners of the cardstock using the Chip off the Ol' block Squeeze Punch, creating a very large tag.

3. Fold the bottom of the tag (square corners) up 4 1/4" and the top of the tag (punched corners) down 1 3/4" to create a match book.
4. Using the Compact Stamp press, Chocoholic Pigment Ink and the Kimberly Poloson Filigree Border Stamp, stamp the top flap of the match book. Use the Li'l Davis Crillon Filigree Stamp to stamp the bottom section of the match book.

5. Print a tea party quote on vellum and cut to fit the bottom panel of the match book. Using the Heidi Grace Dreamer Stamps and turquoise acrylic paint, stamp the lower right-hand corner of the vellum. Stitch and/or staple the vellum to the panel as desired.
6. Punch a strip of patterned paper with the Scallop Sentiment Border. Punch (ink and distress if desired) and adhere it to the top of the bottom panel of the match book.

7. Punch a butterfly from patterned paper and stitch it to the bottom panel near the printed quote.

8. Staple the top flap down like a true matchbook.
9. Using the coordinating Cameo Ovations Stamps and Cameo Appearance Scallop Squeeze Punch, create a tag for a tea bag.

10. Complete the inside of the invitation by adhering a tea bag, the tag created in step 9, and stamping a journaling area using the Li'l Davis Sentiments Stamps.
