Another fun way to work a variety of patterned papers into your layout design, is to use subtle patterns.  When no one pattern predominates, the end result is that all patterns work together as a key design element for your spread.  In this layout, “It’s So Tasty!”, I used SIX different patterned paper (all from the Heidi Grace Day Dream Believer line) and only used a very VERY minimal amount of cardstock (for journaling).  The resulting 2 page spread is comfortable to look at and not too busy or overwhelming.  Both the colors and small patterns all work together to create a very finished, and tasteful (haha!) look.

  • Required supplies:
  • 1/2" round the bend squeeze punch
  • portable rotary trimmer
  • Heidi Grace "daydream believer" paper and embellishments
  • other- kraft and tan cardstock

Instructions (Print version)

1. Start with 2 pages HGD paper as page bases.  I used the Décor Stripe with the backside green crosshatch print from the Day Dream Believer line.

2. Trim two 10.75 wide x 8 tall pieces of cardstock to use as collage bases for center of page.

3. FOR LEFT SIDE OF PAGE: Trim pattern strips for top and bottom of collage.  Add large 10.75x6 photo to center.  Add punchboard tags and stickers to bottom left corner.

4. FOR RIGHT SIDE OF PAGE: Trim pattern strips for top and bottom of collage (to match what you added on left side of page!).  Fill middle section with brown polka dotted patterned paper.  Add 10.75x2 photo collage strip to bottom.  Add title block above photo strip (I used the green crosshatch backside of the Décor Stripe paper) and round top right corner.  Print journaling onto cardstock and add above and to the right of title, slightly extending past edge of collage section.  Embellish with punchboard swirls and photo turns.

5. Adhere collages to background pages.
