march 2009 sketchClick image to enlarge designer: Kendra McCracken Normally I'm one who likes lots and lots of stuff on my layouts. I like to add a lot of little details and textures to keep the viewer's interest, hoping they'll take it all in and slow down to catch the story I'm trying to tell while they're looking. Sometimes, however, the photos say all there is to say and adding a lot of superfluous details would only take away from the story. That was the case with this layout! I captured a series of photos of my father-in-law in his typical story-telling mode. To keep the focus on the photos, I simply lined them up in order along the top and bottom of the layout and kept the embellishments to a minimum using a few of my favorite Fiskars Squeeze Punches and some of the new Heidi Grace, Kimberly Poloson, and Cloud 9 patterned papers. The fun new Cloud 9 Smiley Rain Dots play on the funny faces he makes when he's story-telling. So if you tend to be heavy on the embellishments as I am, remember that it's perfectly OK to keep it simple sometimes! Difficulty rating
