Instructions (Print version)

Double over a large piece of linen, and use a pencil to trace five squares, each 4" x 4"

Write one of following phrases lightly in pencil in five of the squares:
Red Heart
Pink Square
Green Triangle
Blue Circle
Shapes and Colors

Place and embroidery hoop over the squares, and embroidery over the words, using corresponding colors of embroidery floss.

Use the rotary cutter, clear ruler, and cutting mat to cut out the squares.

Cut a heart from red fabric and circle from blue fabric using your fabric scissors.

Cut the triangle from green fabric and the square from pink fabric using the ruler, cutting mat, and rotary cutter.

Cut six more 4" x 4" squares from the linen.

Use the sewing machine to sew a shape onto each square. Sew just inside the border of the shape, and leave the edges to fray. You should have two squares left over, which will be used for the back cover.

Now arrange the fabric squares into the correct order, as follows:
Front Cover with "Colors and Shapes" embroidered on it
Embroidered "Red Heart"

Fabric Red Heart
Embroidered "Pink Square"

Fabric Pink Square
Embroidered "Green Triangle"

Fabric Green Triangle
Embroidered "Blue Circle"

Fabric Blue Circle
Back Cover

Sew the two pages that are grouped together in the list above back-to-back to create a page of the book. There should be 5 pages total. Don't hem the edges, just leave them to fray.

Cut a small piece of blue fabric, about 1.25" x 3.5".

Use this piece of fabric to create the binding of the book, and stitch the pages of the book together with green embroidery floss.
