fun & flirty purseClick image to enlarge Designer: Kelly Purkey http://kellypurkey.typepad.com Do you have some fabric scraps laying around and looking for an idea to put them to use? I've created this colorful fabric purse inspired by a leather bag my friend owns. The design is so fun, I knew I wanted to make my own. I love the look of the cascading petals and these details can easily be added to a bag you make or one you already have. Use your Fiskars sewing tools to whip up a fun and flirty bag! Instructions (Print version) To Make the Petals:
2. Lay the patterned sides of the fabric circles together and stitch them together, making sure to leave an opening so that you can pull the fabric right side out. Once pulled right side out, stitch a border inside the petal so that it now lies flat. Don't worry about stitching together the tops of the petals because they will be layered underneath another petal and not visable.
To Make the Purse: 2. To create the front ruffle, use Fiskars Rotary Trimmer to cut a 3"x16" strip. Fold in half with the pattern on the inside and stitch together, then pull right side out. Gather it together along the top of the front piece of the purse and handstitch it down. 3. Use Fiskars Rotary Trimmer and cut two 2"x14" pieces for straps. Fold them in half with the pattern on the inside and stitch together, then pull right side out. Fold over the top edge of all the pieces 1/4" and press. Set them down in order and pin them together. Pin the straps in between the outside and inside layers of the purse. 4. Stitch together the bottom and sides of the purse. Flip it the right way, then stitch around the top edges Supplies: Fiskars Classic No. 8 Straight Scissors - http://www.fiskarscrafts.com/tools/t_no-8-straight-scissors.aspx other: fabric |
