Notepad purse

I’ll admit it…I’m a sucker for a cute border punch. The new Fiskars Effervescence punch is a fabulous new addition to my collection! When I found this cute purse-shaped notepad, I wanted to come up with a “girly” way to decorate it. I thought it would be fun to create the illusion of ruffles…and the Effervescence punch helped me do just that!

Instructions (Print version)

1. Start with a blank notebook or journal. I found this purse-shaped notebook at a local discount store…but any notebook will do!
2. I started by using the Effervescence border punch on 1” wide strips of cardstock. You can use multiple colors of cardstock, or mix in patterned paper…it’s really up to you! Don’t worry about the length of the strips…just make sure they’ll fit across your notebook.
3. After you’ve punched your strips, begin layering them on your notebook. Use your Fiskars Tape Runner to adhere each strip on top of another. I started at the bottom of the notebook and worked my way up. 

4. As you’re covering the notebook, don’t worry about the strips running off the sides…just keep layering until the notebook is completely covered.
5. When you’re ready to trim the sides, open up the cover, and use the Fiskars Fingertip Craft Knife to trim along the cover.
6. To add a funky “flower” to the front cover, use the Fiskars Comma, Comma Chameleon squeeze punch to create “petals.” Adhere to front with foam adhesive.
7. Creating the center of your flower is easy with the Fiskars Round n’ Round punch – simple add two small holes in the center to tie a ribbon through.
