Party Hat Birthday Card

- Required supplies:
- Light green, orange, pink and aqua blue cardstock
- Light green, orange, pink and aqua blue chalk
- 5/8” light green button
- 3/8” Polka dot ribbon
- Foam tape
- Sewing machine and white thread
- Fiskars Tape Runner
- Fiskars Craft Mat
- Fiskars LowerCase Letters -3 Template
Instructions
(Print version)
- Create a 5” x 7” card from light green cardstock.
- Cut a 4 ½” x 6 ½’ piece of aqua blue cardstock and chalk edges with matching chalk. Adhere to front of card.
- Cut a piece of pink cardstock 7” x 2 ¼”.
- Use the small scallop edge of the Paper Tear Ruler and tear off about ½” of one long side of the pink strip.
- Sew along straight edge of pink strip with a straight stitch.
- Chalk all edges of pink strip with matching chalk making sure to color the stitching. Adhere this piece down the left side of card.
- Cut a 4” x 4” and a 1 ½” x 4 ¼” piece of light green cardstock.
- Sew around edges of light green pieces with a straight stitch. Chalk edges with matching chalk making sure to color the stitching.
- Adhere square piece to top part of card placing left side under the scallop edge and the smaller piece below with the left side over the scalloped piece.
- Wrap a piece of ribbon around front flap and tie in a bow between the two green pieces. Use the Ultra ShapeXpress, Craft Mat and Lowercase Letters-3 Template to cut out the letters “party” from the aqua blue cardstock. Chalk edges with matching chalk and adhere to lower light green piece.
- Use the Ultra ShapeXpress, Craft Mat and the Celebration Template to cut a party hat from aqua blue and the fringe and tassel from orange cardstock. Chalk edges of all pieces with matching chalk.
- Adhere and assemble hat pieces to large light green block on front of card. Use foam tape to give dimension.
- Use the ¼” Circle Hand Punch to create circles (polka dots) and adhere randomly on hat.
- Adhere a button to center of tassel on hat.
Variation: Use this design with different colors, words, and ribbons. Make different themed cards by simply changing the sentiment and decorative shape on card.
