What is it about boys & cars? Something about fast cars & loud engines just makes them happy. When I saw the Ready, Set, Go line from Lil Davis Designs, I knew that I’d have to create a layout about my brother-in-law’s love of racing. He’s been racing since he was very little!

Instructions (Print version)

1. To create this layout, I first scanned several photos of Nick’s car, converted them to black & white, and created a photo collage. Adhere the collage to a 12x12 cardstock base.
2. Trim a piece of patterned paper to 7.75” x 2.25”. Round the bottom corners with the Fiskars Round the Bend Corner Punch.
3. Use the Fiskars XL Twinkle Twinkle squeeze punch to punch 3 stars out of the strip. Adhere below the photo collage.
4. Use the Fiskars XL Twinkle Twinkle squeeze punch to punch 3 stars from cardstock. Adhere these stars just off center of the punches in the patterned strip. Use foam dots to give the stars dimension.

5. Cut 2 thin strips of cardstock (7.75” x .25”) and adhere them above & below your photo collage.
6. To mimic the look of ribbon, cut a small strip of patterned paper, fold in half (don’t crease), and adhere with brads to the upper left corner of the photo collage.
7. Adhere the title with Heidi Grace alphabet stickers.
8. Stamp a journaling spot onto solid cardstock (I used Lil Davis Designs Ready Set Go stamps). Adhere in a grouping with a dimensional sticker, and an arrow punch (Fiskars XL One Way squeeze punch).
9. Define the main portion of the layout by drawing a border…I used a white Sharpie Poster Paint pen.
10. To create the look of a checkerboard border at the top of the layout, use the Leave it to Weaver punch on your base cardstock. Cut a thin strip of coordinating cardstock, and weave it through the punched holes.
