• Required supplies:
• Recycled shirt gift box
• Handmade paper - black/gold swirl
• White typing paper - several sheets (for pages inside journal)
• Metallic cardstock paper - gold
• Metallic gold alphabet stickers
• Craft wire - gold
• Beads - gold, black assorted
• Wire cutters/pliers
• Gold gel pen

Instructions (Print version)

1. Cut 2 pieces from shirt box to each measure 5" X 7". Cover each piece with black/gold swirl paper. Cut 2 pieces of 4-1/2" X 6-1/2" black/gold swirl paper and adhere to backside of each shirt box piece.
2. Cut several pieces of white typing paper to measure 4-1/2" X 6-1/2".
3. Replace blade in paper trimmer with scoring blade. Score along one edge of each journal cover approximately 1" in from edge.
4. Holding both covers together, punch through both layers using hand punch, centering in the 1" scored area with holes approximately 2-1/2"apart. Insert white typing paper between covers. Mark with pencil on top sheet where each hole is in cover. Remove typing paper sheets and punch entire stack at marked spots.
5. Assemble all pieces of journal (covers and inside pages), then cut a piece of craft wire to measure approximately 20". Thread ends of wire through holes from back of journal to front. Thread several beads onto one strand of wire, then thread ends back through opposite holes to backside of journal. Continue to thread wire through holes until entire length of wire has been used up. Wrap ends of wire around other strands of wire to secure.
6. Cut a piece of gold metallic cardstock to measure 4"X 3". Lay texture plate onto ShapeBoss tray and secure with pegs. Lay gold cardstock (shiny side facing plate) onto texture plate. Rub across surface of cardstock piece until entire piece has been texturized. Adhere this piece to front cover of journal.
7. Remove texture plate from tray, then lay stencil set onto tray. Insert black cardstock between stencils. Emboss (1) large and (2) small star shapes. Trim around star shapes using scissors. Adhere stars to upper left corner of gold cardstock piece.
8. Cut a piece of black cardstock to measure 2-1/2" X 1". Apply letter stickers to this piece to spell child's name. Trace around outer edge of cardstock piece using gold gel pen. Adhere this piece to lower right corner of gold cardstock piece.
