Instructions (Print version) Cut out three rectangles as follows: Cut out three strips of patterned paper with approximately the same width and half the height of the previous three rectangles. Chose paper that contrasts with the paper you used for the rectangles. Use Paper Edgers to cut a decorative edge on the bottom of the three strips of paper. Adhere three rectangles to a piece of white cardstock, starting with the biggest rectangle on the bottom and stacking the smaller rectangles on top. Adhere strips of paper on top of corresponding rectangles. Add a tiny candle cut from paper on the top to finish off the birthday cake. Use scissors to cut around the cake, making sure that none of the white cardstock is left showing from behind. Print out the words "make a wish!" on a piece of white cardstock in a 12 pt. font. Apply two 3D foam adhesive squares to the back of the cake, and adhere above the words on the piece of white cardstock. Cut out a square from the white cardstock, with the cake centered in the middle. The square should be approximately 2.5" x 2.5". Adhere cardstock square to inside of the card, placing the cake centered and near the bottom of the window that is cut into the front of the card. Sew around the border of the white cardstock twice, and cut any loose threads. |
