This idea came from a “happy accident” when I noticed a piece of cardstock that had a circle cut out of it over top of a photo on my desk.  I like the look of the photo peeking through the shape.  For my mini-album I decided to use the shape of a fish to go with photos taken with a fisheye lens camera.  It’s fun to get a little peek of the picture through the shape and makes you want to turn the page to see the whole image.

  • Required supplies:
  • Fingertip Craft Knife
  • He Said, She Said - Extra Large
  • Tag, You're It - Large
  • Ultra ShapeXpress™
  • Heidi Grace "little birds tale" paper, stickers, rub-ons, punchboard
  • other- white and black cardstock, thread

Instructions (Print version)

1. Trim black cardstock into four 4”x8” strips and fold in half.  Trim photos to 4”x4” squares and adhere to pages 3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, and 15.

2. Cut patterned paper into eight 3.5”x3.5” squares.  Adhere to pages 1,  2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 13, and 14.  Use Ultra ShapeXpress and Coastal Shape Template to cut out shapes through the patterned paper.  Tip: It’s helpful to use the grid on the template to center the shape over your paper.  If you are having trouble getting the Ultra ShapeXpress to go through all the layers of paper, just use a Fingertip Craft Knife to help.

3. Embellish the book with stickers, chipboard shapes, and hearts.  For the cover use He Said, She Said Squeeze Punch on white cardstock to make a word bubble then add title with rub-ons.

4. To bind book together, poke two holes through the crease of the pages and tie thread in embroidery floss.  Tie floss together, then tie on a tag punched with Tag, You’re It squeeze punch and patterned paper.  Add date with rub-ons and chipboard heart.
