Instructions (Print version)

  1. Measure side and top of purchased tissue box (add ½ “ to these measurements for seam allowance). Using marking pen or pencil  and ruler, draw (4) SIDES and (1)TOP on to grey stiffened felt. Cut out shapes.
  2. Using Circles Template trace (2.5”) circle on to grey felt TOP using pencil or pen. Cut out circle using Craft Knife.  Glue Rick Rack Trim around edge of circle…set aside to dry.
  3. Using thread and needle, Blanket Stitch the 3 SIDES together in a line. Before adding the 4th SIDE, stitch the TOP of the BOX on. Stitch the remaining SIDE on to complete the box shape.
  4. Using Circles Template (1”, 1.5” and 2”) trace 3 circles out of each color (you will be making 12 flowers in various combinations).  Cut out circles with scissors. Layer 3 circles of varying colors (largest to smallest) . Using needle and thread, stitch a starburst pattern on the top circle, making sure to go through all 3 layers to attach together.  Adhere Rain Dot to flower centers.
  5. Draw 12 small LEAVES on to felt of desired color.  Cut out.  Adhere 3 Rain Dots to LEAF centers
  6. Cut various lengths of Rick Rack. You will need 12 total.
  7. Using Glue Gun:  Attach 3 Rick Rack STEMS in various lengths to each side of box; Attach 1 FLOWER to the top of each stem in various heights ;  Attach 1 LEAF to each stem.
  8. VOILA!  Slide your newly created cover over  the top of tissue Box.

Note: Instead of gluing the felt flowers, trim and leaves to the box…you could sew them on by hand or machine prior to stitching the sides and top together.  However, I found gluing them to be easiest…plus the new glue from Fiskars works well with felt and dries fast!
