  • Required supplies:
  • 8” x 10” blue paper gift bag by Paper Reflections
  • Red, orange, green and yellow cardstock with a white core by Die Cuts With A View
  • White Cardstock
  • Fiskars Tape Runner Adhesive
  • Multi-stripe ribbon from Michaels
  • Sewing machine and white thread
  • ½” green satin ribbon
  • Fiskars Stylus
  • Other: Green button, Foam mounting tape, sandpaper, string

Instructions (Print version)

Gift bag

  1. Cut green and red blocks of cardstock that measure 4” x 4 ½”.
  2. Cut yellow and orange blocks of cardstock that measure 3” x 4 ½”. 
  3. Use the sewing machine and white thread and zig-zag around edges of the red and green blocks.  Straight stitch around edges of the yellow and orange blocks.
  4. Adhere blocks to front of blue gift bag tilting slightly. 
  5. Use the Celebration Shape Template Tool, Ultra Shape Express and Craft Mat and cut birthday shapes using the red, yellow, green and orange papers. (Cut 3 balloons, a gift package and party hat.) 
  6. Use the different Texture Plates to emboss some of the items.  Texture the balloons and main part of the party hat. 
  7. Use the sandpaper to sand the embossing to highlight. 
  8. Adhere balloons on upper right block and tie string to the bottom of each.  Gather strings together and place a bow on them on the lower right block. 
  9. Wrap package shape with ribbon and place on upper left block. 
  10. Adhere party hat to lower left block.  Place a button in center of top of hat. (Use foam mounting squares when mounting some of the shapes to give dimension.)
  11. Computer print “happy birthday” onto white cardstock with a colored ink.  Cut words into strips and adhere to package.

 

Tag

  1. Use the Tags Shape Template Tool, Ultra Shape Express and Craft Mat to cut a jumbo tag from blue cardstock. 
  2. Lightly sand edges of tag and zig-zag stitch around edges.
  3. Use the ¼” Circle Hand Punch to punch a hole at the top of tag. 
  4. Use the Texture Plates to emboss a scrap of red, green and orange cardstock and cut into small rectangles resembling candles.  Lightly sand the embossed texture.
  5. Cut flames from yellow cardstock. 
  6. Adhere candles and flames along bottom of tag. 
  7. Computer generate sentiment onto white cardstock with colored ink.  Cut words into blocks and adhere along top of tag.

 

Note: Change colors to brights, pastels, etc.  Match a party theme or use a birthday recipients favorite colors.
