Instructions (Print version) WOVEN MEMORY JOURNAL Dragonfly Kodomo foam set (0513-18) Dragonfly Gardon Kodomo paper (cp406) (2 @ 7 1/2” x 12”) Heart Sutra Calligraphy Kodomo paper (10 3/8” x 10 3/8”) Kodomo paper (your choice) (1 1/2” x 12”) Green mulberry paper (3” x 12”, 6 1/2” x 12”) Mat board (2 @ 5 1/4” x 10 1/2”) Alphabet stickers/rub-ons Alphabet beads Safety pin Sm. white tag Beads Black elastic cord (13”) Decorative fibers Ink pads: pink, green and black Craft knife/cut mat Stick Glue stick Gel glue Tape D/S tape 1. Measure 1/4” in from long edge of 2. Remove top horizontal strip and weave through vertical strips until design is matched up. Repeat step with remaining horizontal strips. (Note: To keep design from shifting, trim 1/16” from length of horizontal strip approx. every other strip.) 3. When weaving is complete, turn piece over and secure edges with tape to keep strips from shifting. 4. Adhere woven piece to mat board using glue stick. Miter corners of weaving and fold edges back. Secure paper to mat board using tape. Cover remaining matboard using green mulberry paper. 5. Position covered mat board pieces 1/4” apart. Adhere remaining green mulberry paper over opening to secure covers together and create a binding. 6. Cut strips of Kodomo paper diagonally to create long triangles. Apply glue stick to back of paper and roll over stick to create a bead. Remove bead from stick. 7. Poke holes into back cover and thread beads onto elastic cord. Thread ends of elastic cord through holes in cover and secure ends to inside using tape. 8. Open book and adhere Heart Sutra paper to backs of covers to create book lining. 9. Use craft knife to poke double holes approx. 1/4” apart down book binding. Thread fibers through holes and knot to secure. 10. Stamp Dragonfly foam set over 11. Adhere folded papers together using glue stick to create “pages.” Positon “pages” in between covers and adhere using glue stick. 12. Close book and position elastic cord over front cover to keep book closed. 13. Decorate front of book using beads, tags and alphabets. |
