The Scrap Boss! Not just for scrapbookingThe ScrapBoss! Have you ever heard of it? I am sure most scrapbookers have. I recently tried this dry embossing kit. The ScrapBoss is an embossing tray that opens for storage and comes with everything you need to dry emboss without the power cord. For my first sample, I used the Inspirational stencil to emboss the words, "believe in tiny miracles." When you emboss your words, you have to do it backwards, so the raised side reads correctly. I scanned the stencil with the paper between the two stencils, to show you. I also added a picture of a stylus. After I embossed the words, I flipped over the stencil, placed the raised part of the cardstock into the slots, and lined them up. I rubbed an inkpad over them to enhance the words further. I used the cute little girl photo image from Hearts In Touch and edged it with a gold krylon pen.

On pink cardstock, I embossed several flowers without adding ink to them. I noticed the embossing shows up much better on the lighter colors. I added a couple of brads for the centers of some of the flowers, some punched-out flowers, and the little girl collage image, matted on bright yellow cs. The beads were an extra add-on afterwards, so of course, I added more pizzazz by dribbling some stickles over them.
![]() I really wanted to use the picture frame stencil from the starter kit. I choose this old-fashioned stamp from Buzz & Bloom, dated 1941. Looking at my mom's old photo album, I noticed that most pictures had black photo corner stickers on them. The embossing stencil would work great! First, I stamped my image to get the size of the frame I needed. I cut the black cardstock about 3/8" larger than the stamped image. I lined up the stencil to each corner and attached all the layers. I found a huge box of vintage sewing supplies at a garage sale for three dollars. As I was looking through the box, I found these buttons, which went perfectly with the rest of the card.
![]() As you can see, the ScrapBoss is NOT just for scrapbookers. If you stamp and want to add some texture to your cards, have fun with your ScrapBoss and send your work to our Reader's Gallery. By Melissa Huber - from S.S. Reflections, Inc.
