featured designer: 5 lead fiskateersOur featured designer for July isn't just one designer, this month we have five! The photo here was taken just last week at Fiskars headquarters in Madison, WI when our new fisk-a-teer leaders gathered to discuss future plans. It's the start of a new term, and to celebrate our five lead fisk-a-teers have each created to share, as well as a bit of information about themselves. I created a series of shadowboxes to show case as wall decor. I love giving my projects texture and layers as well as trying rubons on any surface possible. Each shadowbox features a different Fiskars consumable line; The Past: Kimberly Poloson and Lil' Davis; The Present: Heidi Grace; The Future Lil' Davis and Cloud 9. Just two of many of my favorite tools are the Ultra Shape Xpress and the Tool Taxi. I love the Ultra Shape Xpress for cutting out detailed shapes (like the butterfly). The Tool Taxi is a great tool for rubons and for picking up little embellishments. When creating the project I started with the inside of the box but would take a look at the cover as well so as to try and create balance. I was able to utilize many of the scraps I've had lying around and even purchased the shadowboxes on clearance at my local scrapbook store. So not only is is cost effective but it's personalized. I plan to hang the series up in my home as part of my decor.
Every new baby should get a birthday cake! Here is a mini-album shaped like his 1st cake. The Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch and Round the Bend Squeeze Punch really help create that look of a ‘Cake’. You can also use this shape for a birthday, wedding or anniversary themed mini-album.
For my project, I chose to use the beautiful papers and embellishments from the Li’l Davis Secret Garden collection and my absolute favorite tool, the Fingertip Craft Knife. I do a lot of hand cutting for my crafting, and this knife makes it so easy! I copied the design of the Fiskateer handbook that came in all of our welcome kits, but added pockets to each page by using the Fingertip Craft Knife to cut the large flower out of the Secret Garden Petal Pusher paper, then using it as a template to cut out several more flowers from some of the other papers. The colors of the Secret Garden Collection are perfect for a Baby’s mini-album!
The project I’ve chosen to share with you is a decorated gift box and it’s quite simple to make. I used several sheets of papers from the Heidi Grace “A Little Birds Tale” line; some HG Printed Alphas Chipboard, HG Glittered flowers; Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch, Fiskars Ultra Shapexpress and the Shapes & Flowers Shape Template. Simply find a box of your choice, measure the sides and cut patterned paper to cover all the sides of the outside of the box. Use a solid colored paper for the lid background and enhance it using the USX to cut out complimenting shapes from a Fiskars Shape Templates. (This little tip is a great way to create your own pattern paper whenever you may be in a crunch.) Decorate the box with coordinating chipboard and embellishments. And there you have it… a great way to give a gift within a handmade gift for any occasion! By Fiskars Crafts « Back to Featured Designer |
Angela Daniels (fisk-a-teer #009)- Like a lot of redheads, I learned early in life that green is one color that compliments my bright hair well. Consequently, I have always had a fondness for orange and green combinations. When I became a fisk-a-teer 2 years ago and received my special orange and green handled fisk-a-teer scissors, orange and green took on a new and special meaning in my crafting life as well. Naturally, I was excited to work with the new Kimberly Poloson Cabana Blooms line because of the lovely green and orange combinations.
Cheryl Waters (fisk-a-teer #002)- I'm so happy to be a part of the Fiskars family. I have been blessed to be a part of the beginning of this wonderful community and to watch it flourish into the wonderful place it is today. I am a mother, wife, law enforcement officer, art and scrapbook teacher, and I love animals and the outdoors. I look forward to being a part of what is to come in the fisk-a-teer-sphere.
Kelly Jo Massicotte (fisk-a-teer #936)- I met my husband at Fenway Park in April 2001. We have a beautiful little girl and a baby brother due this September; the inspiration for this project. If I’m not at my scrap table, you can find me teaching scrapbooking classes or behind my camera snapping photos.
Rebecca Peck (fisk-a-teer #411)- A few years ago, I was fortunate enough to figure out a few things. I love to craft. I love to talk about crafting. I love to read about crafting. When I joined the fisk-a-teers and got my number (411), I knew that something magical was about to happen, and it did! I am now lucky enough to call myself a lead fisk-a-teer!

Wendy Jo Avey (fisk-a-teer #99) - I’m so excited to have been selected as one of the lead fiskateers for the 2008-2010 term. I’ve always thought of myself as “Agent 99” and my mission is to spread the love of Fiskars where ever I go. I’ve been crafting for as long as I can remember. Besides scrapbooking and paper crafting, I also enjoy dabbling in making jewelry. My favorite Fiskars tool is the Ultra Shapexpress (USX). I especially love the new Donna Dewberry version…because it’s purple!
