Mini Albums Are Maximum Fun

Mini Albums Are Maximum Fun

A new trend in the scrapbooking world is creating mini albums.   They make great gifts, especially for people who seem to already have everything.  They’re fun to make when time is short, photos are scarce or subject matter is narrowly focused.   And best of all, they’re handy enough to bring along when you’re catching up with friends and family and want to brag a little.

Here are some mini albums from our design team that might inspire you.  Click on the link to share your mini album and comments.  We’d love to hear from you!

As a scrapbooker, I take pictures of every event, big and small, as well as all of the little things in between. The problem is I’m not much of an ‘event scrapper’. I take photos at every birthday and holiday and event, but I tend to scrapbook more of the little things because those are the things that mean the most to me. However that doesn’t mean I want to ignore the event photos so I’ve decided to make mini-albums for holidays and birthdayssomething quick and easy that I can make ahead of time and then, after the event, just add the photos. This is a Halloween mini-album for Halloween 2006. I will print the photos wallet-sized and add 3-5 per spread and then handwrite the details on the journaling tags I already have ready to go (‘who’ did each of my kids go trick or treating with, ‘what’ was this year’s costume, ‘when’ did they goafter school, in the evening, was it a weekend night so they could hit every house in the neighborhood?--, and ‘where’ did they goour neighborhood, just our street, a friend’s neighborhood). Already I’m loving this idea!

What do basketballs, pastels, and practical jokes have in common? They are passions belonging to my 12-yr-old daughter, Isabel. I considered making a page to describe her current interests, but getting miscellaneous photos to look unified on a layout can be tricky. Mini-books, on the other hand, are a great way to pull photos together from various events. In this case, a heart-shaped mini-book was a super fun approach to gathering miscellaneous photos about Isabel's passions

I enjoy making mini albums about my children simply so that I can record and share little things about their personalities or everyday memories.  They are a fun item to have around the house for family and friends can enjoy them.  This mini album is of my daughter and some of the qualities I love about her.  It’s sassy and sweet…just like her!

Lately, my daughters have asked me about Halloween costumes they’ve worn throughout the years. What better way to show them than in this mini album? Now we have a space to document each year’s costume. But remember to go beyond the close up photos. Looking back at the old photos, we all loved seeing a little bit more than just the costume, so I deliberately chose photos that included friends and family, preschool yards and school parades.
