Fiskars Get Ready Craft Event Rules CHA

Fiskars was busy cutting their competition at the Craft & Hobby Association Show in Chicago.  With a new booth, live crafting events and a friendly staff on hand, Fiskars raised interest of attendees from July 15- July17 at the Donald E. Stevens Convention Center.

The successful weekend opened with the live Craft-Off hosted by Laurie Smith of Trading Spaces. The five selected finalists were given 90 minutes to craft creative paper crafting masterpieces.  Before crafting, each contestant picked a theme out a hat which they had to incorporate in their designs.  The themes ranged from family to summer.  A panel of expert judges then evaluated each craft and awarded the following:

1st place- Katherine Parker- McKinney, TX

2nd place- Melissa Reynolds- Waltham, MA

3rd place- Laurie Singelyn- Commerce, MI

4th place- Aimee Woolsey- Fairborn, OH

5th place- Thespoena McLaughlin- Springdale, AR

The Craft-Off set the stage for a very productive weekend.  The new Fiskars booth drew attendees to their three demonstration areas and multiple craft classes.

FiskarsTV was also on set filming a variety of new episodes with professional designers from all over the nation.  In each episode the designer teaches and demonstrates how to construct their craft.  The crafts vary from a no sew felt pillow to a quilted checker board.  The episodes will air on fiskarscrafts.com.

1st place winner, Katherine Parker, won a Fiskars Craft 5-Piece Storage System, $1,000 in Fiskars paper crafting tools, as well as national recognition on the PBS show “Scrapbook Memories” and in leading paper craft publications and select newspapers.

Smith passed out special edition Fiskars pink handled scissors supporting breast cancer awareness to audience members.

Smith also had fun tossing free FiskarsTV tee shirts to excited fans during the Craft-Off.

During the Craft-Off, Smith presented a gift certificate to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Washington County, MD for $500 to help their organization.
