eyelet setters
They will easily punch through paper, cardstock, lightweight chipboard, foam, fabric and lots of other thin materials. The best thing is that they don’t require a hammer! The spring loaded design makes them super easy to use…so easy, they’re even kid friendly. You can make quick work of punching lots and lots of holes. Try creating punched designs like this card in a matter of minutes.
Simply draw or trace the design you wish to punch onto a card and use the 1/16” punch to make the smallest holes. Punch along the design in even intervals to get the neatest look possible. Of course, you always want to use this tool with a craft mat to protect your work surface. If you’re no artist, don’t worry—use your stamp stash, clip art or other digital graphics to create punched designs. Finish the card off with some fun flowers and a happy sentiment and its ready for a stamped envelope!
Punched designs and eyelets are generally just for fun and looks, but we can make practical use of this tool also. You’re guests will twist and shout when they receive this party invitation…literally! The off centered eyelet keeps everything fastened together but when you twist the beach ball, the details of your fun pool party are revealed.
We paper crafters sometimes forget that eyelets were probably meant for garments or shoes and not paper! Here’s a simple project that the eyelet setter tool is perfect for…an adorable fabric bracelet. This wearable project is sure to catch the attention of little girls and big girls alike. It’s a snap to make and even more fun to wear. A simple eyelet and ribbon closure adds to the design and simplicity of the bracelet.
Create the bracelet by stitching up a 3” wide piece of fabric that is about 2” longer than the measurement of your wrist (take a ¼” -½” seam). Press the fabric into a band and turn about 1” of the raw ends to the inside. Stitch the ends of the band closed.
Install two 3/16” eyelets about ¼” from each end of the band. The eyelet punch cuts through fabric with ease! You will simply use a ribbon to tie the bracelet closed on your arm.
Add glittered flowers and buttons to finish the project and prepare to impress all your friends with your fun style!
