Embossing Border Punch

Embossing Border Punch

If your paper gets caught in your punch, tap the punch lightly on your work surface to release the paper.  Punching a few times through waxed paper lubricates the metal so it cuts smoothly and reduces sticking.

Punches can be flipped upside down before punching to make sure the paper is aligned correctly.

Where to begin punching depends on your use of the punched piece.  If you are punching the edge of a card, you would begin punching in the center of your paper and continue punching out towards each side.  Beginning in the center will insure that you will end with the same part of the punched design at each edge of the card.  Beginning punching in the center of any piece of paper that you want to make sure the ends are symmetrical or if you will be layering strips, this will keep the designs in the same place for layering.

To center your first punch design, use the raised notch on the front of your punch.  You can also use the grid lines that are etched onto the bottom area of the punch.

You are not able to turn corners with the embossing border punch.

When using the embossing punches you need to "bounce" on the punch and apply pressure.  Since embossing is actually stretching the paper just pushing down once to punch and emboss will not give you the best embossing effect.  Once you punch the paper bouncing 3 to 4 times on the punch will get the paper to stretch therefore embossing the design on your punch.
