Layouts with ten or more photos

Layouts with ten or more photos

We've all got them- layouts that need to be made with lots of photos. But what happens when you want to use 10 or more photos, but don't want to sacrifice style? Three of the Fiskars Designers are here to share layouts and ideas with you.

Susan Weinroth created this layout using the Heidi Grace baby line, as well as several Fiskars squeeze punches (round 'n round, 1/2" corner rounder, and too hip to be square).

Susan says: The concept that I had behind this layout was to include a late pregnancy shot of me (at almost 9 months!) – and then one photo from each of my baby’s first 9 months of life…  thus equaling TEN photos.  In order to give the page a streamlined and cohesive feel – I used only black and white photos.  A standard 4x6 print of me pregnant is the focus of half the spread, and then I cropped the nine “months” photos down from 4x6 to 2x3 and created a central photo block.  Custom punch accents pieced together in baby hues, accented by Heidi Grace Designs Baby embellishments complete the look of the layout!

Patti Milazzo created her layout with the cloud 9 "Max's backyard" line, as well as Fiskars stamps, 1/2" corner rounder, and scallop paper edger.

Patti says: Scrapping a layout with many photos is a challenge for me.  Sometimes I find my easiest solution is to arrange the photos in a kind of “collage” fashion.  In this layout, I placed the focal photos near the center and kept them at or close to their original 4x6 print size.  Then I cropped additional photos in various sizes and arranged them branching out on either side.  This approach allowed me to include 11 photos and still add some of my favorite embellishments.

Lisa Storms used Kimberly Poloson's "Cabana Blooms" line, as well as her ultra shape xpress tool and butterfly template, and a butterfly pop-up punch.

Lisa says: My favorite way to add a lot of photos to a two-page layout is by grouping most of my photos together onto one page and leaving the other page free for lots of space to freely embellish, journal, and highlight a focal photo.  But your photo page doesn't have to be boring!  Try adding transparent elements onto your photos to add interest without blocking your shots.  Here I used the Ultra Shapexpress to cut butterflies out of a transparency to mimic my kite, but try using hearts, stars, or any shape you can think of.

Remember- with a little creativity you can have lots of photos and plenty of fun and embellishments too!
