Where do I get the pattern for the butterflies featured for your Get, Ready, Craft event?

There is currently no pattern for the butterfly, but due to the volume of requests, we are looking into the possibility of developing one. If it is developed, it will be prominently featured on our website.

Where can I send my scissors to get them sharpened?

How do I request a donation?

Please register electronically at www.fiskars.com/US/donations.

We review requests on a monthly basis, so we suggest that you submit information at least four weeks before your event or project begins. We will notify you if we are able to fulfill your request.

How are the Euro trimmers different from the other trimmers?

The Euro Trimmers use the triple-track blades, have aluminum grids and newer design so you can distinguish between the newer products. The new grid makes it easier to use because you can see the measurements better.

My self-healing mat has warped, how do I flatten it?

You can flatten the mat by placing a couple of cookie sheets in the freezer until very cold. Place your cutting mat on the counter and put the frozen cookie sheets on top and weigh them down with something flat and heavy. Leave them in this position until the mat has flattened again for a few hours. This will usually solve the warping problem.

I am having a hard time lifting the bar up on my paper trimmer, can you help?

To assist you in lifting the bar on the paper trimmer, please move the blade carriage to the center of the bar. Take hold of the bar on either side of the blade carriage (do not use the blade carriage for lifting.) Put your fingers from each hand on the bar and place your thumbs on the trimmer surface. Now lift up on the bar with your fingers and use your thumbs as braces on the trimmer surface. This gets easier with each use.

Why are there two stencils for each Embossing Stencil pattern?

There are two stencils with each pattern because, unlike brass stencils with a lightbox, you do not need to be able to see through the material you are embossing onto with our embossing systems. Simply place the material you wish to emboss between the two stencils and emboss! The purpose of the top stencil is to give you a pattern to follow with your stylus. The purpose of the bottom stencil is to allow the stylus to push the material down into the patterns, which stretches the material permanently, creating the raised embossed image.

Why does it seem like my stylus won't travel across some papers or metal very easily?

Sometimes a stylus will get small scratches or scuffs on it from embossing certain materials, which can make it drag across the material to be embossed. Should this happen, grab a piece of waxed paper and place it between the top stencil and your material to emboss. Emboss right through the waxed paper. This will make your embossing go much more smoothly! For good measure, use waxed paper every time you emboss to avoid extra wear on your stylus.

What materials can I emboss on the embossing systems?

You can emboss on virtually any material that you can make a dent in with a stylus. Some examples of materials which work very nicely for embossing are cardstock paper, vellum paper and crafting metal. Remember - you do not have to be able to see through what you are embossing on, thanks to our two-stencil set system.

Why isn't my ShapeCutter cutting correctly?

There are a few of reasons a ShapeCutter might not be cutting correctly. You may need to adjust your blade - If your shapes are not getting cut out cleanly, you will need to adjust the blade down by turning it slightly clockwise. If your shapes are not getting cut out cleanly because the blade seems to be getting stuck too deep in the cutting mat, you will need to adjust the blade up by turning it slightly counter clockwise. If you are certain that your ShapeCutter is adjusted correctly and it still won't cut cleanly, try a new blade. Most issues with a ShapeCutter can be resolved by adjusting or replacing the blade.

How do I use a brayer?

Ink up the brayer by rolling a dye-based inkpad in one direction only to get an even coat of color. Lift the brayer, and roll again on the inkpad. Do this until the roller is completely inked.

Roll the inked brayer back and forth on your paper or cardstock. Continue rolling until all of the ink has been transferred from the roller to the stamping surface. The colors will become smoother as you roll back and forth. Re-ink and roll the brayer over another section of your surface. You can roll straight up and down, diagonally, or crisscross, or you can make random swathes across the paper at all angles.

How do I create a continuous border using a border punch?

Using the white pattern printed onto the border punch, begin by punching once anywhere along the border. Slide the punched section over to the left or right until it lines up directly with the white printed section on the tool. Continue in both directions until the entire border is punched.

How do I cut in a straight line with my paper edgers?

To easily cut a straight line with your paper edgers, using a ruler and pencil draw a straight line on the backside of the paper to be cut, then as you cut with the paper edger, make sure the edge of a pattern touches the line exactly the same each time the pattern is cut.

I just bought a pair of Fiskars scissors for my child. I just noticed the warning label on the back. Would you mind clarifying this?

The Prop 65 warning label is being removed from the Fiskars kid scissors and school tools packaging. We have reviewed the material data used in these products and found that none present a risk of exposure requiring the Prop 65 warning. However, until all of our packaging is replaced with the newer updated version, some of our products in the stores currently include the warning labels due to this review process. These products are safe and do not require the warning. Fiskars Brands applied this label as a precaution only until we had a chance to review the material used in these products. Fiskars realizes that this strategy may create questions and concerns by our consumers and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Fiskars believes in providing customers safe, effective products and will always comply with state and federal regulations. Thank you for choosing Fiskars.
